It's blog, it's blog, it's better than bad, it's good

Obviously, I’ve been ignoring this blog. I keep staring at the website, thinking about updating but don’t. Since the last update, I’ve knitted a lot, my parents visited, I’ve biked a reasonable amount, and I’ve managed to make a glacier slide using some crazy-ass software. That’s mostly it, I think.
I need to toss some pictures up, but here’s one of me in the Volunteer Park crit:

Bike-wise, I’ve decided to not do road races this year and just focus on the crits. This has been the most liberating decision that I’ve made in a while. I’ve still been riding on the weekends, but I haven’t killed myself with any crazy-long road races that make me miserable. I’m actually looking forward to crits and the track and some Wednesday night mountain biking with my NEW disc brakes [picture for this too]. I’m really registered to do the Spokane 24-hour race, with a team of 5, so I need to get on that bike some more. Unfortunately, that means I miss the brand new Fremont crit, but that’s okay because doing a 24-hour race has been one of the few life-goals that I’ve actually made. It should be fun.

I really need to put up some knitting pictures. I’ve finished my Whisper,

started using scrap yarn to make squares for a blanket,

started a small shawl/scarf (Ishbel) to get some more lace experience

and also started a simple lace scarf (Montego Bay) using some mercerized cotton that I only bought because it was pretty.

It’s great to have my weekly “knit night” where I get an hour or two dedicated to knitting and socializing (and drinking a beer).
This weekend should be pretty awesome. A bunch of grad school friends are renting a house down near Bend, where I’ve never been before. We’re planning on hiking, possibly biking, and generally hanging out.
